All sports fan has their views regarding their favorite athlete. The reporters often ask celebrities about their favorite athletes. Wrexham AFC owners weren’t an exception to it. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney faced the same question last year, and the duo had different answers.

Everyone has their reasons to name an exceptional athlete. It’s not an easy choice, though, to choose one specific athlete from different sports. Reynolds and McElhenney may have agreed upon the club to own, but when it came to the outstanding athlete, they had different views.

Reynolds and McElhenney spoke to ELLE last year. They were at the show to talk about the docuseries Welcome To Wrexham. However, the Hollywood duo got an unexpected question about who the greatest athlete is. Ryan Reynolds started, “Pele is up there.” However, Reynolds hates the argument of who is best as the athletes play different sports and he feels it’s difficult to compare.

Meanwhile, McElhenney had other views. He did name two basketball icons and elaborated on the reason behind the selection. McElhenney said, “Because if you look at like decathletes, you say, well, they can do so many things. But sometimes I think if you could plug, like, what’s the perfect athleticism and sport where you can plug into various sports?

“Because I find that any of my friends who were professional athletes, they were always good at every sport, and then they just had to pick a lane. But I feel like if you took somebody like Kobe Bryant or somebody like Michael Jordan, those guys were so fast, so quick, so big, and so athletic that they could probably do anything. So I would say it would probably be a professional basketball player.”
