Head injuries are always really serious whichever sport that might be in. In the past, fanbases have dreadfully witnessed players losing themselves because of a serious injury to the head. In the soccer universe, Neymar could have been in a wheelchair for the rest of his life if he picked up an injury millimeters away from the actual spot.
Just days ago, a player from the NBA was under major public scrutiny. The person in the limelight is the Lakers’ Anthony Davis. The NBA star suffered a head injury during the game. Fans and basketball pundits were bemused after he left the court in a wheelchair.

In response to the public scrutiny, NBA legend Draymond Green stood up for Davis. He defended him with a very relevant Neymar comparison.
What did Draymond Green say about Neymar?
Recently, Anthony Davis took an unexpected elbow hit to his face during Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals. While he fell to the ground immediately, a part of the fanbase didn’t understand why he left the court in a wheelchair. In fact, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley shockingly laughed at the situation.

In response to the insensitive reactions, Draymond Green had quite a lot of say. On his podcast, Green said, “One small hit to the head can change everything in your life. Every time you step out on the basketball court, the football field, out on the ice, on the pitch, you’re risking your life because one injury can change everything”.
He then went on to make a relevant injury comparison. Green referred back to 2014 when Neymar picked up a serious injury. He continued, “We saw, not this past World Cup but the World Cup before it, Neymar had an injury to his back that was a couple of centimeters away from paralyzing him. The smallest hit to the wrong part of the head can change your life”.
While Draymond Green made a fair point, let’s dive deeper into Neymar’s life-threatening injury.

In 2014, Brazilian winger, Neymar suffered an all-time low in his career. The PSG star was having quite a decent FIFA World Cup campaign. However, he sustained an impactful knee to his back during the quarterfinal against Colombia. While Neymar’s World Cup campaign ended at that very moment, his country went on to lose 7-1 against Brazil.
The doctors officially termed his injury as a lumbar vertebrae fracture. After recovering from the same, he actually spoke about the seriousness of the injury. With a fraction of a millimeter, Neymar could have been in a wheelchair today if Camilo Zuniga’s knee hit him a little more toward the left.
