NBA Superstar LeBron James Sends a 4-Word Message to the USA Soccer Team After FIFA World Cup Win Over Iran

After failing to qualify for the 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup, they gifted fans with a place in the knockout stage. It came at the expense of Wales and Iran. US soccer fans are lauding their efforts to qualify ahead of European giants Wales. NBA legend LeBron James also sent his wishes to the team that reached the Round of 16.

Various US celebs like LeBron James made their feelings clear on social media after the win. US President and Vice-President also sent their wishes to the team. The Empire State Building lit red, white, and blue to celebrate the knockout stage qualification. USMNT has passed the group stage for the seventh time in its history.

LeBron James congratulates USMNT after Iran win

The match against Iran was a do-or-die encounter. The team came into the game with only a win in their minds. They were aware of the threat from the Iranian team, especially the way they defeated Wales.

USMNT created a number of chances, and Christian Pulisic scored in the 38th minute. Iran didn’t register a single shot on target in the first half and create the impact they would have hoped for.

The US soccer team will face the Netherlands in the round of 16

Netherlands got past hosts Qatar to top Group A and set up the round of 16 clash with USMNT. The game will take place on 3rd December 2022 at Khalifa International Stadium. USMNT will look to keep the momentum going into the game against the Netherlands.

The Netherlands came out on top of Group A, as expected. They won 2 of their games and drew one to finish on seven points, one ahead of Senegal. They will go as the favorites in the match against USMNT. The three times runners-up will not be hoping for an upset against them.

USMNT last went past the group stage in 2002 but lost to Germany. Their highest achievement in the FIFA World Cup was in 1930, reaching the semi-finals.
