This deal somehow sees Messi following in the footsteps of NBA legend Michael Jordan. Following his success, he was presented with a lucrative deal from Nike. Aside from signing a $500,000-per-year contract in 1984, the deal also got him paid royalties.
Jordan doesn’t earn a fixed amount from Nike, rather, he gets a 5% royalty on his own name brand earnings. This has helped him garner a net worth of $2 billion. Hence, if the proposed deal for Messi manages to get executed, then he may pocket over $32 billion. Indeed, it is a significant amount that will definitely fill his broad pockets for life. However, nothing as such has materialized so far. Either way, the jury is still out on Messi’s future. What do you make of Messi’s latest deal?
