It is safe to say Trinity Rodman has made a name for herself in soccer. She is getting out of the shadow of being known as Dennis Rodman’s daughter. However, it wasn’t the case when she started her professional soccer career in 2021. Almost all fans knew her because of her last name, which carried a massive weight thanks to NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman.

Trinity is now a regular starter for the Washington Spirit and a regular member of the USWNT roster. Her goal-scoring exploits have earned her a few accolades in a brief career so far. From rookie year to being in contention for the USWNT World Cup roster in two years, the daughter of an NBA legend has made massive strides.
Trinity Rodman got inspiration from her last name
Trinity became the youngest drafted player in 2021 when she decided to go pro. The Spirit forward finished the season with seven goals and seven assists in her first NWSL season. Her seven assists were league high for that season. On top of that, she became the youngest-ever player to assist a goal in the NWSL playoffs in 2021.
The Rookie of the Year 2021 was annoyed with the journalists, though, before starting her professional journey. After getting picked by Washington Spirit in the 2021 NWSL draft, she expected her friends to come up with questions about her father and NBA legend, Dennis Rodman. Instead, it was the journalists that kept her asking those questions.

On speaking about how that inspired her in 2021, the USWNT starlet said, “You could say it put a fire under me more than pulling me down. I was more in the mindset of, rather than saying, ‘Oh, this is annoying, I don’t even have a name,’ I was more like, ‘Oh, I’ll show these people I am an individual and I’m going to develop in soccer like he did in basketball,’ so I think I’m more driven because of it.”

Spirit forward made her available for the NWSL draft 2021 without playing a single game in college soccer. It was going to be tough for her. However, she was already raking up goals with USWNT U-20, and it wasn’t surprising that she got picked in the draft.
Trinity had never looked back since then. After winning Rookie of the Year, US Soccer Young Player of the Year, and being named in NWSL Best XI in 2021, she started making a name for herself. Today she feels happy that many fans recognize her as Trinity Rodman and not the daughter of Dennis Rodman. Trinity is on her way to achieving accolades in her soccer journey. Whether she achieves success like her father remains to be seen.
