Megan Rapinoe will be one of the most eye-catching players to watch in the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup. The USWNT star will be playing her fourth world cup, led by Alex Morgan and Lindsey Horan. Indeed, the Two Time World winner has a lot of responsibilities on her shoulder to carry USWNT for its third world cup win.

Rapinoe has never been afraid of standing up for what she believes in. The USWNT star promotes healthy trash-talking just like her idol Michael Jordan (NBA’s greatest sh*t talker ever). Ahead of the Women’s World Cup, Megan confronts about her excitement and ‘trash-talking’ plans.

With only a few days left for the Women’s World Cup to kick off, the USWNT is gearing up to defend its title. Despite all the pressure on the USWNT star, Megan is looking forward to having a ‘healthy trash-talking’ battle with opponents. Back in 2019, USWNT beat England to secure their place in the final. However, USWNT’s victory wasn’t the biggest highlight of the match.

After her winning goal in the semi-final against England, Alex Morgan celebrated by putting her fingers to her lips as if sipping an invisible cup of tea. Most England fans thought Morgan was mocking their culture by alluding to the act of drinking tea during her goal celebration.

Upon getting asked about her views on Alex’s tea-sipping celebration, Megan smirked. She confronted that she’s excited to have a similar trash-talking experience in the upcoming World Cup as well.

In the interview, she answered, “Yeah, I would imagine if we meet each other again this time, there will be a healthy amount of, if not explicit, then implicit, trash talking.” Well, a healthy amount of trash-talking does encourages players’ enthusiasm and Megan is looking forward to such an experience.

Apart from her love for soccer, Megan has always idolized the NBA star, Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan was a fearless competitor and the greatest trash-talker in NBA history. Celtics legend Kevin Garnett admitted MJ was the best at talking sh*t in the history of the game. Since Megan idolizes MJ dearly, it’s no surprise that the USWNT star is also a fan of trash-talking.

The soccer star Megan replied to Joe La Puma, “Michael Jordan was my hero. I had the life-sized cardboard, I would rip the pages out of Sports Illustrated and pin them on the wall everywhere. I just tried to emulate everything he did. It was just ridiculous.”

Indeed, even sports personalities such as her generally draw inspiration from some icons. Owing to Jordan’s charitable work, the NBA star is, without a doubt, an inspirational icon.
