English soccer club Leeds United is making rounds, firstly for the relegation to the second division and then for the takeover announcement made last month by the 49ers Enterprises. The Peacocks are once again the center of attention after they announced the details of their ticket prices for the upcoming season.
Despite their relegation, $800 million worth Leeds found a new American owner. 49ers Enterprises Investment Group, which owned 44% stakes previously, announced the complete takeover last month. The agreement was in place for a 100% takeover in 2024, but talks with majority owner Andrea Radrizzani led the group to the exercise of the option at the end of this season.

The 49ers announced that they are open to involving minority investors in their bid to takeover Leeds United. And their appeal bore fruits, as many US athletes became part of the consortium. The latest to join was NBA’s Russell Westbrook. The new LA Clippers star announced his investment in the recent event hosted by Sportico and Variety.

With this, Westbrook joins his former teammate LeBron James, who owns a minority stake in Liverpool with the Fenway Sports group. However, the details and the numbers of Westbrook’s actual investment in Leeds is still shrouded in mystery. Reports suggest the deal could be around $531 million, potentially rising to $631 million. Earlier, superstar golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas also became members of the group that will own Leeds.
NBA stars T.J. McConnell and Larry Nance Jr. also have stakes in the Leeds. It will be interesting to see how the new investment changes the fortunes of the club. With relegation, many stars could leave for better waters, with several deals already in place. But ahead of the new season, the club is suffering the wrath of its fans over ticket prices.
Soccer Fans’ outrage over Leeds ticket pricing
Leeds recently released updates on the ticket prices for their games. The highest is $61.5 for home and away adult fans at Elland Road. Home fans might go for the games, but away fans seem more unhappy over the pricing. One Twitter handle posted the table of ticket price distribution for different stands and away fans by captioning, “Leeds United will be charging away fans either £47 or £45 a ticket. Absolutely f**king disgusting!”

Many fans followed suit by labeling the decision as disgrace.

This is a disgrace (I’m still gonna go) but how can u actually justify 47 quid for a ticket https://t.co/hj8KrQBGsI

Disgrace. Let's hope other teams charge them the same. They'll still sell out as they massive but that way at least other clubs can fleece them back. Bang beer up top to £20 a pint. https://t.co/sD0mFcZoaP

A few of them were unhappy to see Leeds fans justifying the decision.
Not sure why some fans are justifying this.
