Off late, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is in Croatia pursuing his musical adventures. Two weeks ago, the Los Angeles Lakers legend performed as DJ Diesel at the Revelin Club in Dubrovnik. While in Croatia, Shaq gave a short interview with media publication RTL, and talked about his preferences in sports.

During the interview, the 4x NBA champion made a barrage of controversial statements including why he prefers basketball over soccer.

The first and the most obvious reason why Shaq prefers basketball over soccer is because of his historical allegiance with the sport. The second reason, however, stems from the aggression involved in the sport. Shaq believes that soccer is a bit too violent for him.

“I wish I was a soccer fan but I can’t. I like basketball. Nothing’s missing. I don’t want any no disrespect to sport but basketball is, baseball is… Soccer is just, it’s just a little too [aggressive], but I love soccer,” said the Lakers legend.

The big man, however, didn’t shy away from sharing his love and respect for soccer players. “I love the players but I like you know basketball [more],” said Shaq.

The NBA icon, worth nearly $400 million, was also quipped about what he thought of the lucrative deals which athletes have been getting these days. Shaq answered the question in a rather spiritual manner and termed it to be luck. Shaq shared his belief in being humble because, according to him, all the money that he and his fellow athletes have is because of luck. It’s all part of God’s plan for Shaq. He cited the humongous $776 million Saudi offer to Kylian Mbappe as an example of his philosophy.

You know I have a term that I live by. It costs you nothing to be nice you know all of us NBA players we don’t realize it but it’s luck the guy that just got offered 776 million that’s part of the luck atmosphere that I’m talking about so yeah,” said Shaq.
