As the co-owner of the LA Lakers, Todd Boehly is a very well-known businessman who has invested in various sports franchises in America. In 2022, he decided to expand his portfolio to Europe by purchasing one of the biggest soccer clubs in the Premier League – Chelsea.
Todd Boehly has had a tough start to his purchase of a $3.1 billion worth soccer club. The American businessman took over the Premier League team in June 2022 and has seen the team perform poorly since. After spending over $200 million on the transfer market to buy new players, fans were hoping for some good performances from the team.

However, this was not the case. Chelsea incurred many losses and, as a result, Thomas Tuchel was sacked as the manager. This definitely came as a surprise to fans, as Tuchel had helped Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League in the 2020-21 season.
Todd Boehly refrains from making major changes
After the firing of Tuchel in September 2022, Graham Potter was brought in as head coach. The Chelsea board was hoping that he would help turn things around and bring some success back to the team. Unfortunately, things didn’t change, and the team continued to struggle.
Chelsea is currently in 10th position in the Premier League. And the team’s recent loss to Manchester City became a catalyst for calls of sacking Graham Potter. However, Todd believes that firing Potter is not the answer, according to the Mirror. Todd Boehly stated that even if Chelsea fail to finish in the top 4, he will still not fire Graham Potter.
This shows that Boehly still believes in the team and the coach. It remains to be seen whether the American billionaire’s faith in the team will be rewarded with a turn in fortunes. Or whether Chelsea will continue to struggle under his ownership.

Boehly’s investment in the Lakers, one of the most storied and successful franchises in NBA history, is particularly noteworthy. The Lakers are the third most valuable NBA franchise, worth an estimated $5.9 billion.
Chelsea Football Club is another one of Boehly’s recent investments. The club is one of the most successful and popular teams in the world, with a large global fanbase. Chelsea is currently valued at around $3.1 billion. His $5.3 billion net worth means that he can afford to take risks on investments that may not initially seem like wise decisions. However, Boehly’s track record proves that he knows how to pick winners.
