Looks like Trinity Rodman hasn’t switched off her Olympics mode. It was just weeks ago the USWNT star showcased an emphatic display in Paris to clinch the gold medal. Fast forward to today, and the attacker once again displayed her goal-scoring prowess in the latest NWSL clash between the Washington Spirit and Houston Dash. However, what truly got fans buzzing was Dennis Rodman’s daughter channeling her inner Stephen Curry after scoring a wonder goal.
Striker Ashley Hatch opened the account within seven minutes from the spot, before completing her brace minutes later. It was finally just a minute at the beginning of the latter half that saw Trinity open her account to make it 3-0. Interestingly, after scoring the goal, Rodman decided to celebrate the goal in a unique yet similar fashion. The 22-year-old decided to celebrate by imitating Stephen Curry’s “night night” celebration.
Basically, in this celebration, the NBA superstar places both hands on either side of his cheek while slightly tilting his neck, and partially closing his eyes, as if to act like he is sleeping. Notably, the first time Curry popularized the iconic “night night” celebration while debuting it during the 2022 NBA playoffs against the Denver Nuggets and carrying it throughout the Warriors’ championship journey.

This celebration became a much-followed trend among fans and other stars with Rodman being the latest. However, she did it with a twist. Instead of doing it while standing up, Trin decided to literally lie down on the right side of her belly. It sent a message to the losing side that it was game over for them, while Rodman easily managed to put both the match to bed with her goal, as well as herself with this celebration.
Two months after suffering an injury during the Copa America in July, Lionel Messi made a triumphant return to the pitch. The Ballon d’Or winner netted two goals, leading Inter Miami to victory over Philadelphia Union at Chase Stadium. However, it wasn’t just his performance that grabbed attention. After one of his goals, Messi also joined in on the trend by performing Stephen Curry‘s signature “night night” celebration.
While at that time, it was the Argentinian icon that shook the whole internet, now it’s the Spirit’s forward, who shall take a look at the frenzy that she has created with her latest act!

What separates Curry and Messi’s bit from Rodman’s celebration is that the recent Olympic gold winner literally laid down on the ground. This seems to have impressed this netizen, who surely gave brownie points to the talented forward by giving her the title of ‘GOAT.’ The fan wrote, “she really committed to the bit by lying down on the ground. that’s goat behavior.”
One has to give it to Trinity for her audacity. First, scoring such a wonderful goal; second, pulling out this iconic celebration. We won’t be surprised but the Washington Spirit star is guilty as charged. Regardless, it was able to send this fan into disbelief. The fan wrote, “The audacity to score *that* goal and then hit this celly.” Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “an iconic celly.”
We know that the celebration is called “night night,” but Trinity, that doesn’t mean you literally have to sleep thereby lying on the pitch. Though many would call it a bit of disrespect to the opponent, the talented forward deserves her limelight moment, and she did enjoy every bit of it!
