Boehly, who has a net worth of $5.3 billion, is the owner of the LA Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers, two of the most successful teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) respectively.

Now, he has his sights set on English Premier League (EPL) club Chelsea, which he took over in May 2022. Since then, Boehly has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Ever since Todd Boehly took over the Premiere League club Chelsea, there have been many questions raised against the American businessman.

Many are surprised by the approach he has taken toward Chelsea. Changing the manager of the team and making several big signings, in an NBC sports interview, it was revealed that Todd might be implementing the MLB approach.
Todd Boehly plans similar to LA Dodgers
The first decision that Todd made was firing coach Thomas Tuchel, who led the team to Champions League victory. This decision definitely came as a surprise to many. And the sources have revealed saying, “I think the new ownership were coming to the conclusion that if results didn’t go their way, then they may want to make a change.”
“They needed to look at a vision of 5-10 years in their opinion because that’s what they want to do. And is he(Thomas Tuschel) their man? And ultimately they concluded, no, he’s not their man, and controversially because he had such a great pedigree, they’ve decided that Graham Potter is”

He further went on to add and explain the MLB approach of Todd. “But Potter was the man that they went for, they paid more than $20 million to get him and his staff out of their contracts at Brighton and they’re investing in him for the long term with a five-year contract in a not-too-dissimilar way to what they’ve done at the LA Dodgers with their coach and also their sporting director which is the next project for them.”

Todd Boehly has shown trust in Graham Potter by giving him a long contract, similar to what Boehly did with the Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts in 2018. While many are questioning Todd’s methods, he believes in his decision as he has seen success in the MLB with these decisions. Only time will tell if this approach will work for Chelsea.
