There’s no denying the influence of Cristiano Ronaldo. The popularity of the Portuguese superstar is among millions, and it even transcends the soccer world to impact various other sports. In a surprising twist, a revered personality from F1 has united the worlds of both sports. Max Verstappen unexpectedly imitated Ronaldo as his laughter echoed his take on Netflix’s approach to make F1 popular in the US.

Just days before this unexpected crossover, the Dutchman clinched a victory at the Brazil GP on Sunday, as Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso finished behind him.

After the race, the podium finishers sat down for a press conference. Interestingly, Rodrigo Franca from Car Magazine posed an intriguing question to Verstappen. He inquired whether, with the next race taking place in Las Vegas, Liberty Media’s efforts were successfully capturing the interest of American fans and turning their attention toward Formula 1. Franca wanted to know the drivers’ comfort level with the cameras that trail them behind the scenes throughout an F1 weekend for the Netflix series ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive.’

Out of all things, Verstappen picked up his mic and shouted “Suii,” which Ronaldo usually shouts along with his fans after he performs his signature goal celebration. After he shouts this, both Alonso and Norris give him a confusing look as Verstappen laughs it off with them. Answering the question, Verstappen expressed his preference for a world where social media never existed, a sentiment that found agreement with Alonso.

The Spanish driver also revealed that he has never tuned in to an episode of ‘Drive to Survive’. Be that as it may, it is quite an eyebrow-raising claim from both. Moreover, it was quite surprising to hear “Suii” from Verstappen’s mouth. Certainly, it must have brought a smile to the soccer veteran and his ardent fans’ faces.

Meanwhile, moving aside from a moment that brought together the fanbases of both sports, one of Ronaldo’s rival team stars recently made a huge claim about his signature ‘Suii’ celebration.

During Al Hilal’s 2-0 win against Mumbai City FC in the AFC Champions League group stage match, Michael, the player who scored the opening goal for the Riyadh side, playfully replicated Ronaldo’s iconic ‘Siuu’ celebration. When asked about his post-goal actions after the match, he responded, “It is said that there are players who do the same. This is my celebration and they are the ones who imitate me!”

In a peculiar turn of events, Michael asserts that he created this particular celebration, and even Ronaldo himself, who was the brainchild of this celebration, is following the Al Hilal winger’s lead. Nonetheless, this claim from the Al Hilal star is both amusing and bizarre. Any thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
