Thanks to his shocking imminent Scuderia Ferrari switch, Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton could rewrite F1 history. Should he win a World Championship with the prancing horse, Hamilton could become the first driver in history to win a World Championship with three different teams. Besides, with another Driver’s title, Hamilton would surpass Michael Schumacher to secure a record-breaking eighth World Championship. While certain F1 icons are dubious about the Englishman’s World Championship prospects in Ferrari, Chelsea legend John Obi-Mikel is quite optimistic about his future with the Italian giants.
While pipping Lewis Hamilton to win the record-eighth title, John Obi-Mikel also called for Mercedes to ‘come up with a better car.’ Furthermore, he added that Ferrari had a better car than Mercedes in the previous season.

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari switch has transcended the F1. It became a talking point on the latest episode of John Obi-Mikel’s ‘Obi One podcast.’ “Not only is he bidding for a record-breaking 8th. But he would become the first driver in history to win world titles with three different teams; McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari. Do you back him to do that,” a co-host asked Obi-Mikel. “I back him to do that,” said Obi-Mikel. Then he added, ” I think this season, they[Mercedes] have to come up with a good car. And hopefully, if Lewis will be able to do it before joining Ferrari, that would be amazing.”
Obi-Mikel later said if Hamilton could win a World title with Ferrari, “then definitely for sure, he will be the greatest driver ever.” Hamilton tied with Michael Schumacher for the most World Championships when he secured his seventh title in 2020. The Chelsea legend is not only optimistic about the Briton’s prospects in Scuderia Ferrari but also stresses that his switch from Mercedes is the biggest sporting phenomenon lately.
