Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney recently made a unique investment in the F1 space. The Wrexham co-owners acquired a 24% stake in Alpine Racing by spending $218 million. Since the investment, there have been quite a few unique reactions across the internet. About a day ago, a well-known voice across F1 forums highlighted the boom in the F1 universe.
Without a doubt, it is quite a gutsy investment by the Hollywood duo along with Michael B Jordan. But a major portion of the fanbase is still looking to make sense of the acquisition. Several journalists and pundits from the sport have tried to decode the takeover.

Ryan Reynolds will help in raising Alpine’s brand awareness
This time, we refer to the words of David Croft. Over the years, Croft has become quite a familiar face in the F1 universe. Since 2012, he has been the lead commentator for the Formula One coverage on Sky Sports. Bringing together all his expertise, the analyst commented on the recent stake acquisition in Alpine Racing. He responded to whether this was a ‘clever injection of glamour’.
Croft quoted, “F1 is booming at the moment, we know that business is good, we know tickets are selling out, we know there’s more and more interest in the sport, viewing figures are up around the world not just in the UK, and it’s an attractive sport to invest in”. He then threw light on how this acquisition would help the motor racing team build brand awareness.

He said, “But we also know that Renault wouldn’t be at all unhappy if someone came in to help spread the load a little bit and maybe to help increase the brand awareness of that Alpine name, which is synonymous in sports cars, but not necessarily known the world over”.
In this modern generation, we all know how important ‘marketing’ a brand could be. The inclusion of Ryan Reynolds at Alpine will do the F1 team the world of good! Let’s take a look at how he transformed Wrexham i.e., his soccer club’s fate with a $3.2 million strategy.

Reynolds’ masterplan at Wrexham
In February 2021, the Hollywood duo managed to shock the soccer universe. They purchased the Welsh soccer club in its entirety for $2.5 million. But the fans didn’t really understand the sense behind it, similar to his current scenario with the Alpine Racing fans. Be rest assured, because Reynolds had everything planned. He took an unconventional route to market a club in the Vanarama National League.

He managed to get funding for ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, the club’s future documentary series. The story in the docuseries began right when the celebrity duo was planning on taking over the club.
