Post-game, a Mexican jersey was found on the ground next to Messi’s feet. As a result, all the Mexican fans got angry, including Canelo Alvarez, who then threatened Messi.

Canelo Alvarez tweeted that Messi was wiping the floor with the Mexican jersey. In a second tweet, Alvarez also lost his cool. He also claimed that Messi should pray to God that Alvarez never finds him. This threat was removed from Twitter because it violates Twitter’s code of conduct.

He was furious at the Mexican’s comments. Furthermore, he claimed that everybody knows Messi’s reputation and career, and how respectful he was. Moreover, he mentioned that it is quite normal for players to keep the jersey on the floor as it becomes quite sweaty.
He further said, “I was upset. Brother, if you want to fight, I’m ready, but leave Messi be. You mess with Messi, you mess with the entire Argentina. Don’t bother the kid.”
