“I’m Coming for You” – Pro Boxer Tommy Fury Set to Battle It Out With Liam Payne in Soccer After Boxing-Esque Showdown Poster

It has become quite a trend now to watch two celebrities compete in the boxing ring. While everyone thought that Liam Payne will be the next one in line, he has managed to thoroughly surprise the fanbase. The former One Direction member will take on Tommy Fury. The two of them will battle it out on the soccer field against each other.

The two of them will be raising funds for a cause through Soccer Aid – a British annual charity event.

Soccer Aid announced the star-studded soccer match in quite a unique way, raising quite a few eyebrows in the fanbase.

Why is Liam Payne playing a soccer game against Tommy Fury?

A few days ago, Soccer Aid’s official Twitter handle announced the mighty clash between Liam Payne and Tommy Fury. However, both of them were facing each other in the announcement poster. The announcement pretty much looked like a boxing-esque showdown. The professional boxer reposted the announcement, which naturally increased the hype for the game.

He wrote, “SOCCER AID 2023! I’m coming for you on Sunday 11 June”. The two stars and their team will battle it out at Old Trafford on June 11, 2023, in Manchester. Liam Payne will be representing England along with former Lioness Jill Scott. Mo Farah, Joel Corry, Tom Brennan, and Chunkz are some of the other notable ‘celebrity’ names on the team sheet.

On the other hand, Usain Bolt will captain Fury’s team. Kem Cetinay, Steven Bartlett, Mo Gilligan, and Maisie Adam are some of the other names in the Soccer Aid squad. This isn’t the first time Liam Payne is participating in a charity soccer match. In fact, he captained England for last year’s Soccer Aid game.

Liam Payne rightfully spoke about the cause that he is working towards along with Soccer Aid. He said, “It’s just such a great charity. It’s great to be back here. The money we’re raising is used to fight real-world problems (like) malnutrition,” as per AOL.

Payne’s six-year-old son motivated him to give something back to society

He also admitted that his 6-year-old motivated him to work with Soccer Aid. Payne added, “He’s fantastic and more than anything, he’s just got such a kind heart. He checks in on other kids, he even goes as far as checking in on teachers. And that’s what we want for every child here with what we do for Soccer Aid for UNICEF”.

Liam Payne and Tommy Fury have partnered up with Soccer Aid for quite a good cause. Soccer Aid mainly raises money for UNICEF. The Humanitarian Aid organization works with 190 countries and provides children with a better start in life. Funds raised from the ticket sales in these soccer games help to provide these kids with drinking water, food, education, and necessary vaccines.
