Wrexham wouldn’t be where they are today if it weren’t for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The Hollywood superstars have given their hearts to the Welsh outfit in order to get them promoted to the Football League. But what would have happened if either Reynolds or McElhenney hadn’t seen the success that they have with the third-oldest soccer club?
The first season wasn’t smooth sailing as they missed promotion to the EFL by inches. Luckily, they managed to break through on the second attempt. But if they were to dwindle again, Reynolds and McElhenney would have been in a pickle.

The second season of Wrexham’s docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham has been released. As the second season shows last year’s triumph, it leads to an interesting revelation about their triumph. In the episode, while talking about the 2022/23 season, the co-owner highlighted his fears.
He said, “We’re heavily invested in building this club, the stadium itself. And if we don’t get promoted this year, the club is completely, totally, and wholly unsustainable.” Given the see-saw nature of sports, it can quickly leave the checkbook in limbo.“If we do not get promoted this year, we are f***ed,” added McElhenney.
Wrexham has started work on the Racecourse Ground, with the owners making good on an ownership pledge. Construction has started on a new 5500-seater stand at the Kop end of the stadium, which will take the stadium’s capacity to 16,000. It is scheduled to open ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Luckily, they managed to win the National League in the second attempt, which must have been a major relief for Reynolds. The $350 million rich actor has already invested both immense amounts of time and money into the project.
Moving gazes to a different sport, Reynolds has been urged to make a significant investment in a Buffalo-based franchise.

Reynolds has already invested in two sports franchises, Wrexham and F1 Alpine. Prior to venturing into the world of Formula One, Reynolds’s profound love for hockey led him to explore ownership of the NHL team Ottawa Senators. In fact, he even submitted a substantial $1 billion bid, which eventually fell short. However, an opportunity to realize his hockey aspirations may have emerged. Reynolds has been urged to invest in The Buffalo Sabres.
The NHL side is currently facing challenges and is in need of new ownership. Owned by Terry Pegula, the Sabres recently underwent restructuring with the dissolution of the team’s parent company. This restructuring has cast uncertainty on the team’s future.

While Pegula has asserted that the Sabres are not currently for sale, circumstances could change. If the day comes when the Sabres become available, Reynolds could be a well-suited candidate to breathe new life into a franchise seeking a fresh beginning.
