The Formula One championship finally ended yesterday after Lewis Hamilton lost out to Max Verstappen, in dramatic fashion. Notably, there was a lot of controversy going into the final race given the closeness of the competitors, and the last race was no different. Hamilton and Verstappen were tied on points going into the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Notably, Hamilton was also leading the race up until the final lap, when Verstappen overtook him, courtesy of a controversial decision. There was a crash at an earlier point in the race which helped Verstappen make up a lot of ground to Hamilton, thereby helping him clinch the title.
Harry Kane talks about Verstappen’s unfair advantage
Tottenham striker Harry Kane took to Twitter to give his take on the race. Even though new to F1, he talked about the “unfair” advantage that Verstappen received, while being clearly unhappy with the result.
“I’m new to F1 and it’s been amazing to watch Lewis and Max battle it out. I’m no expert on it but I feel like there’s some bizarre rules that give an unfair advantage like today? Why should Hamilton be penalised for somebody else’s crash?” Kane said.

Not the end Kane wanted
Kane also complimented both the drivers for their amazing performances, but did mention that Lewis had the perfect race. According to the Tottenham Hotspur striker, Hamilton did not deserve to lose the lead he had gained and had the World Championship taken away from him.
“He literally raced the perfect race under the highest pressure and gets the World Championship taken away from him. Seems like common sense to keep the lead that you’d raced so hard to gain. Shame it had to end like that,” he concluded.

It was a show of solidarity from one Englishman to another. However, Hamilton won’t just rest on his laurels and do his best to win it all next season.
