A few days ago, the two-time Grand Slam champion, Simona Halep announced the reprise of her coaching partnership with the Australian coach, Darrin Cahill. Now, the WTA star from Romania sets higher goals and aims to win the Australian Open 2020 title.

They will begin their league from January 2020, and Australian Open 2018 finalist, Simona Halep is determined to do something significant on the Melbourne’s court. “I had great results in the past. I had a final in Melbourne. My main goal for next year, let’s say, is to win the Australian Open because Darren is back and I’m sure he wants to win at his home,” Halep said.

They parted ways last year when Halep was dwelling on the apex of the WTA roster and the Romanian pride kick-started her 2019 tennis season without a coach. She reached the fourth round of Australian Open 2019 and quarterfinals of French Open 2019, and finally snapped her title-less streak of the year at Wimbledon 2019.

Simona Halep reflected on attaining the Career Grand Slam badge. “I have this possibility in my mind, I have to admit. I know it’s difficult, but after Wimbledon, I feel like everything is possible in this world. I will try just to work hard on the hardcourts, to do what I need to do. On grass courts, I changed the game a little bit and helped me. Now I have to adjust my game to hardcourts more and more,” she mentioned.

World Number six, Halep continued to speak about her relationship Cahill. Although they did not have any formal coaching agreement for almost a year but she believes that he shares a vital part in her Wimbledon success this year as he was working with her from the backend.

“As everyone knows, Darren was not very away from my career this year. He was in the background, helping me a lot – during Wimbledon the most. He is part of that success, for sure. I had no clear answer until after US Open, when he really told me that, ‘100% I can come back’,” Simona added.

She is excited to resume their thriving league and make a difference in the women’s game. “I didn’t have it in my head that he’s going to be for sure next year in my team, so I was waiting until he told me 100%. Since then I’m really happy and I feel confident that next year I can do some good things again,” said Halep.
