With a devastating terror attack in Tunisia last week, the security personnel at the Silverstone circuit are on full alert for the weekend’s British Grand Prix. 30 of the 38 people gunned down in Tunisia were British.
The week also marks the tenth anniversary of the London terror bombing attacks, which further adds on to the possibility of a risk.
The event at Silverstone is country’s biggest sporting event. Over the course of the weekend, somewhat around 350,000 people are expected to come with a whooping full house 140,000 on Race day alone.

A Silverstone spokeswoman said: “Because it is a major, high-level sporting event, we were already on high alert. The level of the threat in the UK is ‘severe’ and it has not changed.
“We have had a risk assessment by Northamptonshire police and security is based on that assessment.”
Circuit sources and a Northamptonshire police spokesman refused to release details or the size of the operation. But the county has an armed police response unit on standby.
On Thursday night, police with sniffer dogs were sweeping inside the ultra-secure paddock.
