It is alright to pick a side based on which of the two setups, the keyboard or the controller, suits you best. There is nothing wrong with having a preference, although the two communities are almost always at odds with one another. The keyboard warrior community disapproves of console controllers calling them aim assist machine that lacks skill, while the console camp doesn’t think much of these claims. Popular streamer Shroud has his own take on this debate.

Shroud offers a unique perspective on the debate

Shroud looked at this debate from the angle of competitive integrity and said, “The whole point of the competition is in fair play, competitive integrity. So if a mouse and keyboard is not fair to controllers or vice versa because they both have their own pros and cons, they should not exist in the same world, it’s really that simple.

“The fact that people are arguing against any of that is crazy to me.”

Shroud strongly believes that two entities should never merge in a competitive scenario where money and pride both are at stake. He believes that both the devices come with their own set of pros and cons, and they should only compete in their own tournaments and not against one another.

If they were to go up against each other, it could hurt the competitive integrity of the sport and make it quite difficult to find a balance between the two.

Shroud also said that it takes more than just the ability to aim properly to play at the highest level of any game, regardless of the platform. If a console player competing in a professional league picks up a mouse and keyboard, he should be just as good as he is with a controller.

At the highest level of the competition, having a good aim is not the only aspect that makes the player, since an in-depth knowledge of the mechanics along with experience and an innate skill set also plays a pivotal role.
