Riot Games’ Valorant is still in its closed-beta stage, yet it has broken records all across. It is safe to say the new 5v5 shooter is raging across the online gaming community. Former CS: GO professional and Mixer streamer, Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek has already had a few opinions to share about the new first-person-shooter multiplayer game.
Shroud Talks About Valorant
Previously, Shroud had already laid out similarities between Valorant and Counter-Strike 1.6. By declaring that the game “bland” and how “everything is super simple, the walls have nothing on them.” He signified that the Agents stand out distinctly. He also felt both Valorant and CS 1.6 have similar spray patters. In his opinion, the overall appearance of Valorant and the simplified map made it feel more comfortable to play and takedown the opponents, unlike CS: GO.

Now in a recent stream, Shroud once again had similar things to say. He stated that Valorant would “probably” overtake Counter-Strike while replying to a question asked by a viewer. According to Shroud, the new 5v5 shooter still under development is “pleasing to the eye” and “a little bit more casual.” This makes the game easier to learn and get accustomed to as compared to CS, which in his views has a more “hardcore” vibe about it.
Counter-Strike Source 2 Coming Soon?
Apart from highlighting the standout features of both Valorant and CS, Shroud seemed to reveal Valve’s upcoming plans for Counter-Strike. Another viewer asked for Shroud’s thoughts on the matter of how Valorant’s closed-beta release has sprung Valve, the developers of CS: GO, into action with new updates for their game.

The Mixer streamer explained CS was “smoothly sailing for years” while delivering his thoughts on the matter. As they had no competition, so the developers did nothing for years. The moment Valorant was launched as a closed-beta, Valve started pumping out updates for CS: GO. He stated, “Valve are so smart, they only update when they know they have to.”
Shroud went on to mention that Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, another Mixer streamer and famed personality in the gaming community, told him CS: GO is subjected to undergo a tremendous overhaul in the summer. According to Tyler, Valve plan on adding Source 2 to their ever so popular Counter-Strike series in the summer. All of this makes sense as Riot too plans on officially releasing Valorant around the same time.

Shroud was glad that new possible additions would be coming to the CS: GO. The game that propelled him to global fame and also brought him immense success.
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Valve is renowned for its unique marketing strategies to keep the core CS: GO player-base attached to their game. For years there haven’t been any competitors to CS. But with Valorant’s surge, Valve has sprung into action with new updates. An upcoming CS game could certainly be on their cards.
