Shikhar Dhawan Sends Emotional Message to Indian Fans After Exit From World Cup

Indian Opener, Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, on Wednesday, due to a fracture in his left thumb.

Shikhar Dhawan shared an emotional message for his fans and his team after ruling out of the ICC Cricket World cup 2019.

He wrote on Twitter, “I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I’m grateful for all the love & support from my teammates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind!”

Shikhar Dhawan further shared his desire to play the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He said, “Unfortunately, my thumb won’t be recovering on time, I really wanted to play the World Cup and represent my country. Now it’s time for me to go back, recover well and be ready for the next action”.

Shikhar Dhawan also showed his confidence for the Indian team. Dhawan backed up his teammates and said, “I’m sure the boys are doing a great job at the moment and they are going to win the World Cup. Keep praying for us and keep supporting us, your support and prayers are very important and very dear to us. Thank you again for all your support and love.”

Earlier, team manager, Sunil Subramanian had given an update on Shikhar Dhawan’s injury. He said, “Shikhar has a fracture at the base of his first metacarpal on his left hand.”

Subramanian then made an official announcement of Shikhar Dhawan ruling out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. “Following several specialist opinions, he will remain in a cast until mid-July, which rules him out of the ICC,” Subramanian said.

Shikhar Dhawan injured his left-hand thumb while facing a bouncer from Pat Cummins against Australia in their second match at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The left-hander didn’t come out to the field during the second innings. However, he was selected as the man of the match award for his 117 runs knock in 109 deliveries.

Later, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also sent his wishes to Shikhar Dhawan. He wrote on Twitter, “Dear Shikhar Dhawan, no doubt the pitch will miss you but I hope you recover at the earliest so that you can once again be back on the field and contribute to more wins for the nation.”
