A recent post on social media captures a Hawaiian surfer’s poignant return to the shores of Teahupo’o after an absence of several years.

Global surfing icon John John Florence has a huge social media following. He takes pleasure in visiting the location of his upcoming event beforehand, allowing himself to enjoy some fun before the constraints of competition set in. After a considerable absence, the surfer eagerly pursued his next event and finally arrived at Teahupo’o. The video that has gained widespread attention captures him skillfully riding the enormous waves, garnering admiration from fans and fellow professional surfers, including another Florence.

Surfing the waves of Teahupo’o after five years

John John Florence has a deep affection for travel, particularly across the oceans. Fans are well-acquainted with the surfing icon’s penchant for reaching his next destinations using his trusted yachts and vessels. Despite his unwavering wanderlust, John Florence had not set foot on the mighty waves of Teahupo’o for a period spanning five long years. However, the surfing video shows him standing tall on his surfboard while smoothly cruising through the giant wave as if he had never left.

“First wave at Teahupo’o in five years, so stoked to be back her,” said John Florence in the caption of his Instagram post. John can be seen climbing on his board while a wave reaches its maximum height. The next seconds of the clip shows him gliding on the wave as it beautifully barrels around him. John’s brother, Nathan Florence, left a heartfelt comment on the post. Nathan, who is also a surfing expert and a popular YouTuber, said, “That’ll do sir! She looks happy to have you back.” The two-time world surfing champion has made his way to Teahupo’o for his upcoming contest, the SHISEIDO Tahiti Pro.

John John gears up for another win

The SHISEIDO Tahiti Pro kicks off on 11th August 2023. Along with John John Florence, several other great surfing giants are also arriving at Teahupo’o for the competition. John is currently ranked at number seven in the global rankings and is looking forward to adding another title to his list of achievements. The waves of Teahupo’o have also been chosen to test the mettle of all surfers for the upcoming Olympics.
