Three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Shaun White is one of the best skateboarders in the world. He is also the richest skateboarder in the world. The 35-year-old nicknamed the “Flying Tomato” holds the record for the most X-game wins. White is known for pulling off snowboarding tricks that others can only dream of.

Now that Shaun White is gearing up for his 5th Olympic game, let’s know more about the trick that landed him in a hospital.

Let’s go! White gears up to pull off the triple cork
One of the most famous moves in snowboarding is the triple cork. Consisting of three diagonal flips, this move is considered extremely dangerous and could be fatal for the athlete if not pulled off perfectly.
The first time White tried it, he landed directly in the hospital. Later, White revealed that he almost broke his pelvis at his second attempt. Eight years passed and then, in October 2021, things changed.

At Saas-Fee, Switzerland, where snowboarders gathered before the Grand Prix, back-to-back triple corks were pulled off by snowboarders. White knew this was coming, and he was ready.

“I knew this was coming, let’s go,” White told his coach as soon as he heard the news.

During an interview there, he revealed that he has been practicing real hard and has actually pulled off more than 20 triple corks while practicing.
“I haven’t actually nailed it yet, but I have the road map in my mind,” he said last month.
While he gears up for his 4th Olympic medal, White reveals he doesn’t feel like an underdog, but he accepts that he is a bit behind and needs to catch up.

Towards gold, Shaun White
White knows that he needs to ace the dreaded triple cork in order to be tough competition for the Olympics. But his eyes are set on the gold medal, and he knows that just landing the triple cork will not get him the medal.
White has to do something different with it. And along with the triple cork, he must display a combination of other tricks which will help him win.

“But it’s not enough to do that. What’s the combination going to be? And how am I going to do it bigger and better than the others? You know, how do I make it different?” said White.
Now that the finish line is clear and visible for Shaun White, it will be interesting to see his performance during Beijing 2022 and whether or not he gets his 4th gold.
