Wait, did Shaquille O’Neal really just agree to that? The basketball world was caught off guard when the Hall of Fame class of 2025 was officially announced. Among the buzzing fans was Shaquille O’Neal who was live in his podcast The Big Podcast with Shaq. The 2016 Hall of Famer had a rare, heartfelt reaction that the fans didn’t see coming.
So, what exactly went down? During his latest podcast episode, Adam Lefkoe the show’s co-host paused the show and broke the Official NBA Hall of Fame news to Shaq. Shaq’s fellow big man Dwight Howard was voted for the Hall of Fame. Shaq was also informed about the fellow player’s demand. Howard, who’s now officially set to be inducted, made it clear who he wants by his side during the prestigious ceremony. It wasn’t just anyone. Dwight said, “ I want Kevin Garnett, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Shaq to walk me out.” That’s a bold request, right?
And Shaquille O’Neal? What was his reaction? Without missing a beat, Shaq replied, “I’ll do it.” With the smile and sincerity in his voice, Shaq agreed to the future Hall of Famer’s requests. And just like that, we might be witnessing one of the most wholesome Hall of Fame moments in 2025.
After years of tension, Shaquille O’Neal could’ve ignored Dwight Howard’s request. Instead, he responded with a yes. And just like that, one of basketball’s longest-running feuds may finally end on the Hall of Fame stage
