India’s ace fast bowler Mohammed Shami will miss the next Pool B match against UAE on Saturday due to a knee injury. He has been the most successful bowler for India so far in the world cup having taken 6 wickets in the two matches against Pakistan and South Africa at an average of 10.38 and economy of 3.82.

RN Baba, India’s media manager said “Mohammed Shami got a mild left-knee problem and had ultrasound-guided injection yesterday. For his long-term management perspective he won’t be available for tomorrow’s match against UAE.”

There has been no news whether Shami will play the match against West Indies on 6 March or not.

Indians have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Stuart Binny and Axar Patel who can take his place in the playing 11. This might just prove to be a blessing in disguise for India as the one who plays will get important match practice which would help if they are required to play in future in the world cup after tomorrow’s match.
