In the wake of the impressive win, Andy delivered over Carlos, Shakur Stevenson has expressed his thoughts on the professional fighter’s debut in the ring. Taking to his Twitter, Shakur said that Andy had a knack to understand the intricacies of boxing. Only someone like ‘Sugar Stevenson’ who has ample knowledge of the boxing sport can make a statement such as this.

The unanimous decision in favor of Cruz has also enabled him to further widen his horizons to grab big fights. His victory over Carlos ((35-8-3, 21 KOs) saw scores of 100-90, 100-90, and 98-92. However, it seemed like the 2020 Olympic Gold medalist was playing it safe. He avoided establishing a signature move that he could further identify himself with. Will he go down in the books with names such as Shakur or will the potential that his promoter Eddie Hearn saw in him collapse?

Eddie Hearn has a plan for Andy

Promoter Eddie Hearn sees something in Andy Cruz. The star promoter who is also attributed to cracking a deal between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte is doing all he can to see Andy enter the big leagues of professional boxing. With a record of 140 wins and just 9 losses in the amateur ring, all of it makes sense. As he moved from his homeland Cuba, he struck a deal with Eddie Hearn, the promoter who moves worlds in the boxing scene.

As he competes in the stacked Lightweight division, Hearn is pursuing all means to land him fights with the legends. Names like Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, Shakur Stevenson, and Devin Haney are all under consideration. Impressed with Cruz, Eddie Hearn said, “He’s gonna start at 10 rounds in July. This kid is an unbelievable fighter.” It has already been seen that Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing is known for fixing up the most challenging fights.
