The 25-year-old joined the German Giants only a year ago for a fee in the region of £15.5 million and had an impressive Champions League campaign scoring 4 goals in 6 games. He became a fan-favourite last season as he played an instrumental role in Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal run to the final but will now play for the Europa League next season in Spain.

The move is thought to be a consequence of Dortmund’s domestic league debacle last season due to which they failed to qualify for the Champions League. Immobile failed to get on scoresheet on many occasions in the Bundesliga scoring only 3 goals in 24 games but was a key figure for them in other competitions.

Sevilla on the other hand were assured a group stage spot in the Champions League for next season after their Europa League triumph and were looking for an apt replacement for the departing Carlos Bacca.
