Dak Prescott has been with the Dallas Cowboys throughout his professional career. The Cowboys drafted the quarterback in the fourth round of the NFL in 2016. Ever since then, he has been the go-to choice for the team on the playing field. But questions started to arise about the relevance of Prescott ever since his lowly performance in the playoffs last season. Fans were so disappointed that they even booed the quarterback when he went on stage to collect a humanitarian award before the Super Bowl. However, what would an athlete do, if doubts are from the owner of one’s franchise?

When billionaire owner Jerry Jones started to doubt the player’s stand on the field, Prescott saw Jones as nothing but another hurdle he has to cross in his career in the NFL.

During an interview with Graham Bensinger on YouTube, the duo talked about how Prescott had a marvelous rookie season with the Cowboys during his debut in the NFL. His performance as a rookie impressed fans as they saw Prescott as a potentially powerful figure in the team’s arsenal. But when he had one poor game, Jerry Jones publicly questioned the fact that if Tony Romo should take up the spot in the starting team again. Romo was playing as a QB for the Cowboys back then before retiring from the NFL in 2017.

To this, Prescott replied that he saw Jones as nothing more than another doubter of him in the game. He went on to talk about how he was not upset with the situation, but it motivated him, even more, to prove himself to the team and Jones. He felt that nullifying his work up until that poor game was okay, but it fueled the fire in him even more.

Prescott said, “Another doubter. Whether he meant it intentionally or whether he was just trying to raise another man up, it was just another doubter. Because I’ve done so much for this time, and you’re still questioning that, that’s all right. But to give him a little bit of credit, he saw what Tony had done. So I think about that as well. So that’s what allows me to not have personal attention to a guy because I always try to see out their perspective, see out of their eyes.”

What does Prescott’s future with the Cowboys look like?

Even after a rocky time in the season and with Jones, it seems like Prescott will be a Cowboy for life. The team is making moves in the free agency window to clear up cap space and maybe probably establish Dak Prescott as their franchise quarterback. Even after the fans doubted the quarterback’s value in the roster after a not-so-good last season performance, it seems like the Cowboys will probably retain their 2016 drafted QB.
