Manchester United are yet again linked with Argentinian goalkeeper Sergio Romero, who is presently a free agent.
David de Gea, who’s future with the club is still unclear, is understood to be leaving soon, and Sergio Romero would be brought in as a replacement for the Spaniard.
Romero was also linked with Manchester United last season, but the signing of Victor Valdes killed all prospects of him joining the club, for that season. He was dropped from the Sampdoria side as they were battling with monetary issues and had to save money.
AS Roma also seemed to be interested in the same player, adding to his value, which might ensure he gets a hefty wage if he decides to move to either team. Gianluca di Marzio says Manchester United are prepared to offer him €2 million per year, which is much better than what the Serie A team Sampdoria gave to them.
Sergio Romero was Argentina’s main goalkeeper at the FIFA 2014 World Cup held at Brazil, and was a part of the semi-final team which defeated Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands, where he saved two penalties. Also, he was playing at AZ Alkmaar in the same duration Louis van Gaal was the manager. It is obvious that van Gaal, as one of the best managers, would have identified the player’s talents and qualities by now, making him a better prospect for the team.
