The World Number ten, Serena Williams won her opening round victory at the Miami Open 2019 against the Swede, Rebecca Peterson, but unfortunately, the American alerts the draw of her home tournament since her left knee is injured. The eight-time Miami Open champion, Serena Williams’ withdrawal from the tournament moves the 18th seed Qiang Wang into the pre-quarters of the Florida sunshine.
“I am disappointed to withdraw from the Miami Open due to a left knee injury”, said Serena Williams. “It was an amazing experience to play at the Hard Rock Stadium this year and would like to thank the Miami Open for putting on an amazing event. I hope to be back next year to play at this one-of-a-kind tournament in front of the incredible fans here in Miami.”

Previously Serena Williams withdrew from her match against Garbine Muguruza at the Indian Wells 2019. Before that in 2018, she withdrew from the Canadian Open and the French Open where she was scheduled to play Alize Cornet and Maria Sharapova respectively.

Her first round match was accompanied with the sunbeam in the Dolphins’ stadium and Serena Williams also lost a point and later gestured upon the irking rays of the sun. ”A lot of photographers came,” Serena Williams said. ”I thought, this must be good light. I thought about taking a selfie, but you’ve got to stay in the moment.”
During her opening round match at the Miami Gardens, the American won 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 against Peterson. In the Key Biscayne’s arena and she lastly lost to Naomi Osaka in the first round, she bade goodbye to the surface after that match where she previously won eight titles.

The tennis athletes are getting used to the newly built huge Hard Rock Stadium and Williams experienced the blend of sun and shadows in the Miami Heat. “It was interesting,” Williams said. ”First, it was dark out there, which was really odd. The shadows were so intense it was dark, and then … there was light.’ Whatever. I need to focus on playing better or not being in the tournament much longer.”
