The 38-year-old American, Serena Williams got knocked out from the French Open 2019 by Sofia Kenin while the Austrian, Dominic Thiem was attending his press conference at Roland-Garros. The World Number Four tennis player, Thiem was asked to leave the interview room since the three-time champion in Paris, Serena Williams refused to wait.
The fourth seed at the French Open, Dominic Thiem was uncomfortable when he was asked to leave the press conference by the Roland-Garros officials and then he replied, “I’m not a junior player anymore”. The round-of-16 contestant at Roland-Garros 2019, Thiem was furious with this attitude of the organisers.
“I don’t really get it, seriously,” Thiem continued. “I mean, what the hell? No, but it’s a joke, really…I have to leave the room because she’s coming? I leave also then. I’m not standing around. I can also do what I want.” This impolite action by the organisers contributes to another French Open controversy.

This act by the Roland-Garros officials displayed clear-cut favouritism towards a GOAT tennis player, which is certainly unacceptable. It was an unfortunate situation for the finalist at Roland-Garros 2018, Dominic Thiem who was disparaged in the midst of a press conference, which got halted due to the impatience of Serena Williams.
This is definitely not the way to treat tennis players participating in a Grand Slam event and it was completely discourteous conduct by the Roland-Garros officials towards a highly ranked tennis professional. Serena Williams should have ideally waited for Thiem’s press conference to conclude and the officials should have courteously continued with interviewing Thiem.
The 20-year-old American tennis player, Sofia Kenin remarked the advent of the new generation of American tennis. She trounced upon her 23-time Grand Slam champion compatriot, Serena Williams 6-2, 7-5 and progressed into the pre-quarters of the French Open 2019. There are four American women in the pre-quarters of the Roland-Garros 2019 and, surprisingly no one from the Williams family.
Dominic Thiem defeated Pablo Cuevas to reach the fourth round at Roland-Garros 2019 and fourth-seeded tennis player will play the fourteenth-seeded Frenchman, Gael Monfils.
