Serena Williams’ Coach Patrick Mouratoglou Sets up Another Tennis Academy in the Middle East

Overall these years, Serena Williams has enjoyed tremendous success. Her spell with coach Patrick Mouratoglou has been one of the most fruitful stories in tennis. Together, the pair have won ten grand slams. Besides, he’s even guided her to Olympic glory in 2012 and three titles at the WTA Finals. 

Keeping Williams aside, Mouratoglou has coached several talented players in the past. Aravane Rezai, Jeremy Chardy, and Grigor Dimitrov are a few of them. Patrick’s first role as a coach was for the Cyprus international, Marcos Baghdatis, whom he coached for a spell of several years from (1999-2006). Since 1996, the super coach has his academy set up close to Nice in France, known as the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy.

Just a day ago, Mouratoglou ushered in some positive news by setting up the ‘Mouratoglou Tennis Center Jumeriah’ in Dubai. This is a major development in this journey of his. By taking such a step forward, he has certainly made his intention clear of going global. 

Recently, there was a statement issued by the Mouratoglou team, the spokesperson stated, “On behalf of Patrick and the Mouratoglou team, I am proud to announce the opening of the first-ever Mouratoglou Tennis Center. After building Europe’s most proficient tennis academy in the South of France, we’re launching today a world-class tennis center in Dubai, the first one of many. This maiden international project is a collaboration with the luxurious Jumeirah Group.”

The coach to Serena Williams surely knows how to expand and is an asset to the sport. Young guns like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Coco Gauff have been progressing under his guidance. It won’t be surprising to see either of the two do wonder in the future. 

Speaking more on his students, Tsitsipas made it to the semifinals of the French Open this year, which was his best performance in a major. Whereas, Coco Gauff made it to the fourth round of the Australian Open this season, equalling the same feat as she did at Wimbledon in 2019.
