The Manchester City centre-back, Vincent Kompany believes that the senior players in the team will lead the way and perform this season. He also compared the resurgence of these senior players being equivalent to 7 new signings for Pellegrini, according to The Telegraph.
Manchester City had a lukewarm last season, as they could not defend their title. A major reason was the failure of the experienced players to click, and Kompany realizes and admits to the same. He puts himself first as he talks about his fall of form. But after a clear victory over West Bromwich Albion in the first game of the season, the Citizens seem all ready to roar and win back the title from the Blues again.
He also wishes to see Kevin de Bruyne, his teammate for Belgium, to play alongside him, after rumours began flowing. But he does trust the depth in his squad and says moving in the right direction would be enough to secure the title again.

“Our squad can become stronger just by getting everyone in the right direction. We had so many players who just didn’t perform last season – and I was one of them”, he said. “If they do perform this year it will be like having six or seven new players. Then we will have a stronger squad.

“It’s great to see your main players performing early in the season, but it’s a long season. Raheem was great and we have so many top players, Samir, Delph coming back. Kun (Sergio Aguero) was on the bench, Zaba (Pablo Zabaleta), it’s all going to be about the squad. Players like Raheem, Delph and from what I’ve seen Patrick Roberts will give us so many options. For us it’s about consistency. We’ve shown what we can do and now people are going to say why can’t you do it every game?”
“So far it’s a 100 per cent record but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We had good spells last season, but our consistency is what cost us. It would be nice to see us be consistent every week. That is important for us.”
“There’s a lot of hunger and desire. I thought for the first hour we were exceptional at West Brom. We showed a lot of good things.”
When discussing the chances of Kevin de Bruyne joining the English club, he had to say: “Let’s put it this way, he definitely wouldn’t make the team weaker. Any team he goes to he will make them stronger. He’s a phenomenal player. A complete player.”
