The 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix was a poor day in the office for Scuderia Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel, and Charles Leclerc. Both drivers collided after a desperate Vettel tried to re-overtake Leclerc for a position, and it was race over for them. Of course, this gave the impression that Vettel and Leclerc have had a massive fallout and the crash was the boiling point.

However, Ferrari F1 team principal, Mattia Binotto has attempted to downplay any talks of potential conflict and said that the two have sorted it out between themselves. Vettel and Leclerc were also thanking their lucky stars that neither of them faced punishment by the stewards for their role in the incident.

What made matters even was the fact that Vettel started on the front row and was on a better strategy compared to his rivals. His first pitstop saw him emerge on soft tires, before strapping on mediums – five laps before the first Safety Car. That safety car period led to Leclerc looming menacingly in his mirrors for the impending restart. Then on lap 65, the disaster struck when Vettel got too eager in his attack and botched the move.

Naturally, Ferrari launched an investigation into the incident involving their drivers and Binotto revealed that the duo had to explain themselves at the team’s headquarters in Maranello.

Can Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc avoid a repeat of Brazil 2019?

It is the first time they have hit one another this season and Binotto was adamant the crash would be investigated in full so that it should not be repeated. “When doing things in the heat of the moment, you can come to the wrong conclusion,” he said.
With the 2020 season on the horizon, both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc would want to banish all memories of the accident. In other words, they will focus on the 2020 title fight with clear heads, and will hopefully stay out of each other’s way
