Animal Crossing: New Horizons has represented something that has been limited in real life due to the pandemic; the ability to travel and find solace outdoors. The game is very welcoming and warm. You enter Aika’s island by dialing a code that redirects you to it. As you can expect, the scary island’s theme is ruinous and you are welcomed by an enormous dinosaur fossil.
All the houses are designed in a unique way and present what might have transpired. You will also come across Aika’s house while exploring the island. The house is decked in a birthday theme, complete with a birthday cake. While her parents aren’t home, you can see a picture of the family in it.
The island, and indeed Aika’s home, gives you an ominous feeling that something really dark must have gone down on her birthday. All over the island, you’ll find wrapped gifts that hint of the same. There is a cluster of houses you can visit and most of them have a sign of a harrowing experience.

You will definitely find villagers walking around the island, but neither provide a clue as to what has happened. Apart from near-empty houses and the decorations, the island has this constant ‘unfortunate’ background score. The next time you head to Aika’s house, the lights are out. The image of the family has black ink all over it, another hint of a chain of tragic events.

Aika’s island presents or tries to present a pretty spooky landscape. While there are no right answers or the right interpretations, there is a notice board on the island that has a series of notes that might contain clues. They are probably left behind by Garakku, who designed the island. You’ll find many fan theories available regarding the same.
