Saina Nehwal, who secured number one ranking in the women’s single early in April, slipped from the coveted position subsequently. She, however, piped Olympic Champion Li Xuerui of China, who dropped to number two, to reclaim her top position. So for now, Saina holds the world’s number one position in women’s singles as released by BWF (Badminton World Federation). The star Indian shuttler has made all Indians proud of her consistent and outstanding performances. Nehwal is the first non-Chinese player after Denmark’s Tine Baun in 2010 to hold number one spot in Women’s category and the first Indian woman to hit the Numero Uno spot. In the men’s category, Prakash Padukone held this position thirty-five years ago.
She has been in the top 10 player list from 2009. We are so proud of her.
Many many congratulations to her!
