The Team Europe skipper Padraig Harrington is currently competing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. This is his first tournament since the dreadful defeat at the 2020 Ryder Cup. However, even here he has had a terrible start as he finished his round one with a score of +3.
Padraig’s was completely out of sync, especially in his short game. Moreover, he still looked disappointed about the Ryder Cup loss, which to be fair is understandable. And in the post-round interview, he expounded the reasons for Team USA’s superiority.

In the post-round interview at the Carnoustie Golf Links, Team Europe captain Padraig Harrington reflected upon the Ryder Cup defeat. “Same as it was, you know it hasn’t changed at all. They played great,” said Harrington. “And if you’re looking back at you know everything that Europe has done over the last 20 years to innovate to get an edge, they’ve just copied us.”

“They’re doing the exact same thing as us, you know, so it’s just hard to find that edge. You know, they were a good team. They got everything right during the week. You know everything, even going up and practicing beforehand, they happen to get the right wind. The wind that switched for the tournament was the wind they practiced in.”

Moreover, Harrington added that they were a good team, and they did everything right. He also said that they holed the putts, which gave them the much-needed momentum in the game.
However, Team USA had an emphatic victory over Team Europe in the 2020 Ryder Cup. The home team crushed the visiting Europeans with a score of 19-9.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Ryder Cup will be played in Italy in 2023, and hence, Europeans will be looking to capitalize on it and take revenge for this embarrassing defeat.
