Juventus have a rich history of extracting the best out of former Manchester United veterans. With Carlos Tevez and Patrice Evra, both of whom were supposedly past their prime, finding their second winds at the Turin club, it appears that Massimo Allegri wishes to add Robin van Persie to the list.

RvP achieved cult status with the United faithful two seasons back with his contribution to United’s title charge. With a change in management and a continuous lack of fitness, he has seemingly has lost his way at the club in spite of compatriot Louis van Gaal taking over the United reigns. Van Persie has lost a yard of pace and his goal return of 10 in 27 appearances in 2014/15 is worse than his goal haul of 12 in 21 under David Moyes in the preceding season.

Louis van Gaal is reportedly in the market for a striker and this may well signal the end of the 30 year old’s career in red. Juventus would appear to be the best possible destination for the Dutch international with a move worth $20m probable.
