Serie A has an interesting race brewing up this season with a host of clubs challenging for the title. AC Milan currently lead the table, followed by Napoli, Inter Milan, and Roma. Thus, Roma’s game against Napoli this weekend was important for both sides. Although the game finished 0-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, it was not short on entertainment. The referee sent off Roma manager Jose Mourinho due to dissent, and he hilariously coached them even from the stands.

Jose Mourinho coaches Roma after getting sent-off

After he was shown the red card, the former Manchester United coach climbed the barricades to coach his team. He received a yellow card in the first half while a second yellow card ended his time on the pitch. But, Mourinho did not go to the dressing room; instead, he stayed behind the dugout and tried to coach the team. Roma fans loved his dedication and gave him a standing ovation.

While there may be valid critiques of his coaching methods, one thing is for certain, there is never a dull moment with the Portuguese in charge. His antics are the stuff of legends, especially his reaction to a saved penalty when he was managing Tottenham Hotspur.

Roma have started well in Serie A

Bringing in Jose Mourinho has worked out well for Roma so far. Although they had a blip by losing 6-1 to Bodø/Glimt, they have largely performed well this season. Mourinho spoke about his side’s performance and wants more from his team.

“Football is all about points, and the truth is that in these three matches, we have picked up just one point. However, football is also about building.”

“You have to analyze equality and evolution, the way of playing, and the psychological side in terms of how players deal with facing top teams. And we played well against Juventus and Napoli, top-level games, games where the result was in the balance until the end and did so without fear,” said Mourinho after the 0-0 draw against Napoli.
