After a gruesome week of tennis, we will witness a blockbuster final at Rolex Paris Masters 2020. The No.3 seed Alexander Zverev will square off against arch-rival Daniil Medvedev in the final on Sunday.
Zverev defeated Roland Garros champion, Rafael Nadal, in the semifinals and crushed his hopes of winning a title at Paris Bercy. Having won two back-to-back titles at Cologne prior to the Master’s 1000 tournament, the German has extended his winning streak to 12 matches. Despite being embroiled in personal issues lately, Zverev’s on-court form has remained unaffected.

On the other hand, Medvedev has ousted the likes of Diego Schwartzman and Milos Raonic en route on his journey to the final. Considering his standards, the Russian has had a string of poor performances this season and has reached his first tournament final of 2020.
Alexander Zverev vs Daniil Medvedev head-to-head
The duo has played six times against each other, with the rivalry lopsided 5-1 in favor of Zverev. They last faced off in a round-robin match at the ATP Nitto Finals last year, which Zverev won in straight sets. The sole victory of Medvedev came at the 2019 Shanghai Masters, where he defeated Sascha in the final.

The 2020 US Open runner-up has been in scintillating form, and his comfortable victory over Nadal was a testament of the same. Zverev has hit a whopping 47 aces as yet and has consistently won over 70% of the points on his first serve. The No.3 seed has been hitting the ball deep into the court and has the ability to push his opponent further back.
Whereas, Medvedev has defended extremely well from the baseline, and his powerful backhand has inflicted damage. Seeded No.4, Medvedev has hit 34 aces himself and has lost one set to the final. However, the 24-year-old will have to be wary of Zverev’s aggressive game, which might overbear Medvedev during the long rallies.
