The second Grand Slam of the year, the Roland Garros 2019 has begun its preparation by putting their tickets for the season on sale. The Court Philippe-Chatrier is about to be ready with its renovated look and this year, revamped Court No.2 and Court No.3 will be in use. The work for a retractable roof on the Court Philippe-Chatrier is scheduled to take place for the 2020 championship and for the year 2021, Court No.6 and Court No.8 would be restored.
Apart from that, Roland Garros 2019 will be christening a new arena called, Simonne-Mathieu Court. The ‘terre-battue’ of Paris is escalating its glory by adding more number of spectators every year. And with, the tournament organisers have announced an increase in the French Open 2019 prize money for the players.
The Roland Garros 2019 prize money has been enhanced by 8% from the year 2018. The clay major’s total funds for the men’s and women’s draws account to €42.7 million. The qualifiers who fail to step into the main draw at the Roland Garros 2019 will earn 15% more than what they made previously.

The first round losers at Roland Garros 2019 will receive a revised amount of 15% rise in their salaries which is resulting in €46,000 and the qualifiers who exit from the last round will credit €24,000. The quarterfinalists will be bagging an average of 9% more than what they used to receive and pocketing €415,000. On the doubles court of Roland Garros 2019, the women and the men champions will receive 3.5% of increment in their wages and would be awarded €580,000.
Despite all the extravagant modifications in the payouts of the tennis athletes, the champions on the men’s and the women’s arena will receive a paycheck of €2.3 million ($2.62 million), which disparages Roland Garros for its Grand Slam tag. For instance, at the U.S. Open, Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic were enumerated with $3.8 million which is a lot more than the pay of the French major.
The French Tennis Federation, Bernard Giudicelli and the tournament director, Guy Forget feel the pay gap between the winners of the tournament and the players who exit in the opening round should be tapered.
