Indian opener, Rohit Sharma did not choose a side on the ongoing spat between the Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sanjay Manjrekar. The Indian Vice-Captain was asked about his opinion about the quarrel between Jadeja and Manjrekar in the post-match press conference on Saturday.

Rohit Sharma, who scored his 5th century at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against Sri Lanka on Saturday, chose to stay neutral between his teammate, Ravindra Jadeja and former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar.

Earlier, Sanjay Manjrekar had labeled Ravindra Jadeja as a “bits and pieces player”. Jadeja slammed Manjrekar and tweeted, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I am still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhea.”

Rohit Sharma suggested that each person reacts differently in a different situation and he wants to stay away from all the controversies. “See, that’s the challenge for the sportsman. All this distraction will happen, but every individual is different, and it depends on how he wants to think about that particular incident or situation. For me, as I said just now, I want to stay away from all of that and enjoy the beautiful weather in England,” Rohit Sharma said.

He further added, “I have my family here as well. So most of the time I’m trying to do that rather than all those talks going around and things like that. Because as long as you’re playing, that will happen.”

The right-handed batsman also suggested that they would require a logistic manager to handle the outside forces. He added, “And we have to have a logistic manager because a lot of people are staying in the same hotel as us who want us to win the World Cup, who want us to score runs, score centuries.”

Rohit Sharma also recommended that the players know their job and they want to stay away from the controversies happening outside the ground in order to accomplish their goals.

He further added, “So you kind of want to stay away from all of that because eventually, our job is to do that, our job is to come here, play good cricket and win the World Cup, we all know that.”

He further explained that it’s important for them to focus on their game rather than all this stuff. He said, “Constantly yapping in anyone’s ear is not right. So I think for us as cricketers, it’s important to focus on the job at hand.”
