Roger Federer, current World No. 5, returned on the tour this week at Stuttgart. This was his first tournament since Miami where he completed the Sunshine Double after winning the first Major of the year. After winning his 18th Major in January, Federer won 2 Masters 1000 titles at Indian Wells and Miami later. Federer decided to skip the clay season to prepare better for the Grass season and Wimbledon.

Federer returned on the tour at Stuttgart and faced Tommy Haas in his first match on Wednesday. Federer breezed through the opening set but went on to lose the match in 3 sets after having match points. It wasn’t an ideal start for Federer’s Grass campaign. But the loss could have been due to lack of match practice after having a layoff of about 10 weeks. Federer’s game was rusty and some match play at next week’s Gerry Weber Open in Halle would help him get in shape for Wimbledon.

After surprising many by winning this year’s Australian Open, Federer is among the favourites to lift the trophy for the 8th time. Federer is the joint record holder at Wimbledon. But, one more title at SW19 would move him clear off Pete Sampras. The Championships are only a couple of weeks away and Federer is primed for another great run at Wimbledon. We take a look at the records and statistics of Federer at SW19.
