Eight-time Wimbledon champion, Roger Federer conceded his 350th win at Grand Slams, with a 7-5, 6-2, 7-6(4) win over the 27th seed, Lukas Pouille in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships 2019.

He is the only man to reach this summit in tennis and also, in the women’s section the tennis players are yet to achieve this glory. In addition to that, the Swiss maestro earns his 98th victory on the courts of SW19.

Swiss World Number three, Federer reflected the significance of his latest attainment on the tennis tour. It’s just a usual match win for Roger Federer as he considered the amateur tour legends did not have much access to participate in the major tournament and hence the couldn’t reach the peak which he grasped a few moments ago.

“It’s nice but it’s a medium (achievement) otherwise,” Roger Federer mentioned after progressing into the second week at Wimbledon 2019. “I know back in the amateur times they weren’t playing all the Slams.”

Back in those days, there were nationality restrictions to participate in a particular Grand Slam event and traveling great distances for the purpose of tennis was also not feasible for the players. And hence he considers his 350th major achievement as an ordinary match win. 

“It’s too far to travel to some places. And the generation before me also didn’t play all Slams,” Roger Federer continued. “Especially in the last 20 years, everybody started playing all the Slams. I have enjoyed my time at the Slams and they all give me the most memorable and special moments on the tennis court. But, of course, it’s a nice number to achieve. ”

Up next, the in the pre-quarterfinal round, Federer will take on his prophesied fourth-round opponent, Matteo Berrettini who took more than four hours to dismiss Diego Schwartzman from the Wimbledon Championships 2019.

Before stepping in the All England Club this year, Berrettini had an eight-match winning streak on the grass courts in the month of June, which includes his title win in Stuttgart and Federer has amassed nine-straight match wins in this grass season.
