For all those who thought they will never see DeSean Jackson back in the NFL, well he has dropped a bombshell. The veteran wide receiver has indicated that he has not retired after all and is asking for a return.

Jackson last played for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2021 season.

Fan reaction to the potential return of DeSean Jackson

DeSean Jackson talked about his potential return to the NFL during his appearance on the ‘I AM ATHLETE’ podcast live tour. “Hell no, I ain’t retired. I’m a free agent,” Jackson said. When pressed about the teams he would pick if he does return to the field, Jackson went on to name Aaron RodgersGreen Bay Packers and the team that brought him to the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL fans had a mixed bag of reactions to the news of Jackson returning to the league. The loudest among them were the fans of the teams Jackson said he wanted to play for.

Jackson’s NFL career so far

The Philadelphia Eagles picked up DeSean Jackson in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft. He was, at that time, considered as one of the top 10 wide receivers available in draft class despite his smaller frame. What he lacked in build, he compensated in agility and quickness.

He had a great rookie season in Philadelphia, with 62 receptions and two receiving touchdowns in total. Jackson also bagged 50 punt returns for 440 yards, which was an Eagles rookie record. He played for the franchise till the end of the 2013 season, with him being the team’s best receiver during that time.

Jackson then went on to play for the Washington Redskins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. the WR then returned to the Eagles ahead of the 2019 season. He had a decent time but was sidelined most of the time due to injuries. The three-time Pro Bowler was subsequently released in 2021. He then went on to sign for the Los Angeles Rams, then the Raiders, which is the team he last played for.
