

Houston Rockets guard James Harden went past 20,000 points in his NBA career during the game against Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
Harden helped the Rockets bounce back after a defeat against Oklahoma City Thunder. He registered a double-double on the night with 32 points and 12 rebounds. He also dished out eight assists as the Rockets had a rather comfortable victory.
Harden, 30, is the seventh youngest player to reach the milestone of 20,000 points and the 45th player overall in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Over the year, Harden has been a prolific scorer for the Rockets and overall in the league as well. His attacking prowess had earned him two consecutive NBA Scoring Champion in 2018 and 2019. He was also the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2018.

James Harden continues his prolific scoring record into the 2019/20 season. After 37 games, he is averaging 37.7 points, 7.5 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game.
“It’s a great accomplishment obviously,” he said after reaching his milestone. “I have a bigger picture and bigger goals but it’s pretty cool.”
His teammate Russell Westbrook was delighted of Harden’s achievement.

“To be able to do that on a very, very high level is something we don’t take for granted,” Westbrook said. “Growing up in L.A. and being able to see him progress over the years to me is just a blessing to see as his friend and I’m truly happy for him.”

Harden is 45th in a list that is topped by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar followed by Karl Malone. Among currently active players, Harden is fifth behind LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter and Kevin Durant.
