According to reports from Sky Sports, Fenerbahce have agreed a 4-year deal to sign Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

The Turkish club are expected to announce the deal before the weekend, with only some details that need to be agreed with van Persie himself.

It is also reported that Fenerbahce director Guiliano Terraneo personally travelled to London to personally talk to the Dutch striker.

Fenerbahce, who last week signed Nani from the same club, are quickly building their squad and increasing the club profile.

The Portugese winger was quoted, “I haven’t had the chance to talk with Robin van Persie yet,” Nani said. “But if he comes to Fenerbahce, I am sure that he will be very successful.

“I know Robin very well and it would be the right decision if Fenerbahce sign him.”

Robin van Persie, in his three seasons at Old Trafford, since joining them from Arsenal, won the league title in his first season, scoring a staggering 30 goals. But since then, injury and fatugue never allowed the striker to get back to his best form, and the move seemed imminent.

As for United, if the deal goes through, Louis van Gaal will only have Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as the current striking options as Javier Hernandez can face a hefty period on sidelines after suspected with a broker collarbone while playing for Mexcico against Honduras.
