The former Brazilian fullback, Roberto Carlos has been announced as the new Head Coach for the Indian Super League(ISL) based franchise Delhi Dynamos.

The Real Madrid star has played for the national team in 3 World Cups, winning  it in 2002 and were the runners-up in the 1998 edition. Carlos was an instrumental part of the golden Brazilian team which included the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Rivaldo amongst others. Fullback was a part of Brazil squad which won Copa America twice in 1997 and 1999. Brazilian has also won all major laurels. Not only this, when he played for Real Madrid they won Champions League three times, four La Liga titles and Intercontinental Cup.

On an individual basis, Carlos has achieved legend status, for the surreal free-kick he took against France, which is claimed to be one of the best goals ever. Known for his clinical and fast shot-taking abilities, he was nicknamed “The Bullet Man”. Being a fullback, he was at the runners-up position for 2002 Ballon d’Or, and was announced the UEFA defender of the year. Madrista was also included in the FIFA World Cup All-Star team and the UEFA team of the year twice. The 42-year-old is also one amongst the FIFA’s top 100 list of footballers ever.

Carlos last played for the Russian side, Anzhi Makhachkala, after which he chose to take a managing role further on. Under the coach Harm Van Veldhoven, Delhi Dynamos had finished 5th in the league, missing out the semi’s by a point, with the skipper Alessandro Del Piero playing an important role in the team.
